Dr. Richard McDonough received a Bachelor of Arts in Biology in 1977 and his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1981, both from University of Missouri – Columbia. GO TIGERS! Upon graduation, he went to work at a small animal practice in West County for 10 years. In 1991, he joined Harvest Plaza Animal Hospital. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Missouri Veterinary Medical Association, and the Greater St. Louis Veterinary Medical Association.
Dr. McDonough was born and raised in the North County area of St. Louis. Both of his parents came from farming backgrounds in Ireland so he was always drawn to animals. He was also very interested in science so veterinary medicine was a perfect combination of the two.
He and his wife moved from North County to St. Charles in 2004. He has two grown children and triplet grandchildren.
Dr. McDonough has recently retired from Harvest Plaza to spend time with his family, but will always be a valued part of the Harvest Plaza family.
